Belgian broadcaster RTBF has just announced that ESSYLA will represent Belgium at the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Dancing on the Ice”.
Who is ESSYLA?
ESSYLA is the sage name of Alice Van Eesbeeck who first came to fame when she was a finalist on The Voice Belgium in 2021. ESYLA was raised with French songs but has explored several genres such as folk, funk, jazz and rock.
“Dancing on the Ice” was composed by ESSYLA, Emil Stengele and Nicolas d’Avell with lyrics by ESSYLA and Barbara Petitjean.
ESSYLA will perform in the second half of the first Semi-Final on Tuesday May 12th.
Last year, Belgium was represented by Red Sebastian with “Strobe Lights” where he placed 14th in Semi-Final One with 23 points.
